Tankersley

Village in South Yorkshire, northern England, 7 km/4 mi south of Barnsley; population (2001) 1,550. It is situated in a former coal-mining district. The church dates from the 15th century, and the area was once an extensive deer park on the estate of Charles Rockingham, British prime minister 1765–66.
