| Opera by Donizetti (libretto by J Ferretti), produced at the Teatro Valle, Rome, on 9 September 1833. The story concerns the poet Tasso, who is in love with Eleonore. Her brother, Duke Alfonso, sends him to an asylum for seven years; on his return Eleonore has died and Tasso must seek refuge in his poetry. |
