Tattershall

Village in Lincolnshire, east-central England, 27 km/17 mi southeast of Lincoln; population (2001) 5,550. Its castle, built in 1440 by Ralph Cromwell, Lord High Treasurer to Henry VI, is an early example of East Anglian brickwork. It now belongs to the National Trust.

The late Perpendicular Gothic church was begun by Ralph Cromwell and completed by William of Waynfleet (1395–1486), bishop of Winchester from 1447. Tattershall was first granted a charter in 1201.
