Tauchnitz, Karl Christoph Traugott (1761–1836)

German printer and publisher.

He established a printing business in Leipzig 1796 and a publishing house in 1798. His special publications were stereotyped editions of the Greek and Roman classics, but he also printed Bibles and dictionaries. His son, Karl Christian Philipp Tauchnitz (1798–1884), carried on the business, and left money for philanthropic purposes.

He was born near Grimma, Saxony.
