Taverner

Opera by Maxwell Davies (libretto by composer), composed 1962–70 and produced at Covent Garden, London, on 12 July 1972. The plot is based on the now discredited story that John Taverner was an agent of Thomas Cromwell dedicated to the persecution of the Catholic Church.
