| American Puritan minister and poet. His complex sequences of poems, including God's Determinations Touching His Elect c. 1680 and the 217-poem Preparatory Meditations 1682–1725, are influenced by John Donne and the English metaphysical poets. The poems were discovered in 1937 and first published in 1939. |
