Tedder, Arthur William (1890–1967)

UK marshal of the Royal Air Force in World War II. As deputy supreme commander under US general Eisenhower 1943–45, he was largely responsible for the initial success of the 1944 Normandy landings. He was made a KCB in 1942, and became a baron in 1946.
