Teerlinc, Levina

    0.06 sec.

Teerlinc, Levina (c. 1515–1576)

Netherlandish miniaturist. Her career was spent in England, where she was court painter from 1546. No signed work by her exists but several miniatures have been attributed to her; she may also have produced manuscript illuminations. If she did so, it would support the hypothesis that miniature painting was the continuation of the pre-print and pre-Reformation art of illuminating manuscripts. She was the daughter of the illuminator Simon Benninck (or Bening).
