Telemaco, Il, ossia L'isola di Circe

Opera by Gluck (libretto by M Coltellini), produced at the Burgtheater, Vienna, on 30 January 1765. In the story, the Sorceress Circe loves the prisoner Ulysses on her enchanted island. His son Telemachus, also shipwrecked, falls in love with Asteria, Circe's maid (later revealed to be his intended wife). They escape while Circe swears revenge.
