Tell City

City in southern Indiana, 72 km/45 mi east of Evansville, on the Ohio River; population (1990) 8,100. It is a trade centre in an agricultural and bituminous coalmining area. Furniture, electronic equipment, and boats are among its products.

It was settled in 1857 by Swiss immigrants.
