Terneuzen

Port in the province of Zeeland, the Netherlands, on an arm of the River Scheldt, 45 km/28 mi northwest of Antwerp, Belgium; population (1996) 35,100. Terneuzen is situated at the end of the 32-km/20-mi-long Ghent–Terneuzen Canal, on which are located iron and steelworks and other major industries.
