Terpander (lived 7th century BC)
| Greek poet and musician. He won a prize at the music festival in Sparta between 676 and 672 BC. His contributions to music are uncertain, but are said to have included the composition of drinking-songs, the increasing of the lyre strings from four to seven, and the introduction of new metres into poetry and consequently into music. |
