territorial behaviour

In biology, any behaviour that serves to exclude other members of the same species from a fixed area or territory. It may involve aggressively driving out intruders, marking the boundary (with dung piles or secretions from special scent glands), conspicuous visual displays, characteristic songs, or loud calls.
