Texcoco

Ancient capital of the Aztecs in Mexico, originally located on an island in the now dried up Lake Texcoco. It was part of the Aztec Triple Alliance with Tlalcopán and Tenochtitlán, the latter being the original Aztec capital city. There are many archaeological remains in the district, which attract tourists. It is now a prosperous agricultural and cattle-raising centre.
