Minch

Arm of the Atlantic Ocean separating the northwest mainland of Scotland from the Outer Hebrides. The channel runs for more than 90 km/56 mi, northeast to southwest, and extends to a width of 30–75 km/19–47 mi. It incorporates the Little Minch, a passage separating the island of Skye, in the Inner Hebrides group, from the middle islands of the Outer Hebrides: South Harris, North Uist, and Benbecula.
