Thill, Georges (1897–1984)

French tenor. He studied in Paris and sang with the Opéra 1924–40 and with the Opéra-Comique until 1953. He appeared in the first performances of works by Canteloube and Rabaud and was successful as Calaf, Julien, Don José, Tannhäuser, and Parsifal. He appeared at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York 1930–32, as Roméo, Faust, and Radames. As late as 1956 he sang in a Wagner concert and made several films, including Louise, with Grace Moore.
