Thomasville

City and administrative headquarters of Thomas County, southwest Georgia, 48 km/30 mi northeast of Tallahassee, Florida; population (1990) 17,500. It was a winter resort for the elite in the late 1800s and is still known for quail hunting. Local products include cigars, fertilizer, timber, vegetables, and roses.

Thomasville

City in central North Carolina, 8 km/5 mi southwest of High Point; population (1990) 15,900. In an area that produces wheat, tobacco, and corn, it manufactures plastics, textiles, clothing, and construction materials, and has been noted for its furniture, especially chairs, since the 1870s.
