Tiefland

Opera by d'Albert (libretto by R Lothar, based on a Catalan play, Terra baixa, by A Guimerá), produced at the German Theatre, Prague, on 15 November 1903. In the story, Sebastiano marries off his mistress Marta to a simple shepherd, Pedro, who does not realize that he has been dishonoured by marrying her. Later, Pedro learns the truth and strangles Sebastiano when he again stakes a claim on Marta.
