Tifton

City and administrative headquarters of Tift County, south-central Georgia, 60 km/37 mi southeast of Albany; population (1990) 14,200. It is an agricultural centre, handling local tobacco, pecans, tomatoes, and peanuts. Textiles and plastics are manufactured.
