Tigellinus, Ofonius (died 69)

Roman politician and favourite of the emperor Nero. He held office as praetorian prefect, indulging the emperor's worst vices and tyrannizing the Roman populace between AD 62 and 68. The historian Tacitus relates in his Annals how Tigellinus was forced to commit suicide on the accession of the emperor Marcus Salvius Otho.
