Tipton

Part of Dudley in the county of West Midlands, England. Its parish registers, beginning in 1513, are the oldest in England.

Tipton

City in central Missouri, 48 km/30 mi southwest of Columbia; population (1990) 2,000. There is some light manufacturing.

Tipton was laid out in 1858, the year it became the terminus of the Pacific Railroad and the place at which the Overland mail route to San Francisco began. During the Civil War it was occupied at various times by Union and Confederate armies.
