Tisbury

Town in southeastern Massachusetts, at the north of Martha's Vineyard; population (1990 est) 3,100. Tisbury, which includes the village of Vineyard Haven, is one of the island's commercial centres. It is an affluent resort community and the gateway to Martha's Vineyard for most visitors arriving by ferry. It was incorporated in 1671.

Tisbury was previously an agricultural area with a port, fishing, and whaling.
