Tisch, Larry

Tisch, Larry (1923–2003)

US corporate executive. He was the president (1946–74) and investment strategist of Tisch Hotels, a partnership with his brother Robert. They were later known for buying failing companies and making them profitable through massive lay-offs and strategic shifts. Their major takeovers included Loews Corporation (1961), Lorillard (1968), and CBS (1986), where his immediate cuts at CBS News caused controversy. Tisch was born in Bensonhurst, New York.
