Tishomingo County

Tishomingo County

County in northeastern Mississippi, on Pickwick Lake and the Tennessee (north) and Alabama (east) borders; area 1,124 sq km/434 sq mi; population (1990) 17,700. Its capital is Iuka. Woodall Mountain, Mississippi's highest point, and the northern end of Pontotoc Ridge are in this agricultural, lumbering, and clay and stone producing county.

The county is crossed by the Natchez Trace National Parkway (restored frontier road) and (since 1985) canals connecting the Tennessee River with the Tombigbee River.
