Tissington

Village in Derbyshire, central England, 13 km/8 mi southwest of Wirksworth, in the Peak District national park; population (2001) 200. It holds annual well-dressing ceremonies.

On Ascension Day, five wells, which were thought to have been of benefit to the inhabitants during the Black Death (the 14th-century epidemic of bubonic plague), are decorated and visited in procession.
