Toczyska, Stefania (1943– )

Polish mezzo-soprano. She made her debut at Gdansk in 1973, as Carmen, and appeared elsewhere in Poland as Dalila and Leonore in La favorita. From 1977 she appeared at the Vienna Staatsoper, as Ulrica, Azucena, and Eboli. She has sung Lara and Amneris at San Francisco; Anna Bolena at Chicago (1986); Adalgisa at Houston (1987); Azucena and Amneris at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London (1983–84); and Wagner's Venus at Hamburg (1990).
