Todd, Mark James (1956– )

New Zealand equestrian. He won the individual three-day event gold medal at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. He became the first New Zealander to win the Badminton horse trials in 1980, and regained the title in 1995 and 1996. He also won the Burghley horse trials a record-equalling five times, in 1987, 1990, 1991, 1997, and 1999. He helped New Zealand win the three-day event team title at the World Championships in 1990. Todd won the 1997 European Open (three-day event) at Burghley. In 1998 he helped New Zealand to the Three-Day Event team gold medal at the World Equestrian Games in Pratoni del Vivaro, near Rome, Italy. He also took the individual silver medal.
