Tokyo trials

War-crimes trials 1946–48 of Japan's wartime leaders, held during the Allied occupation after World War II. Former prime minister Tōjō was among the seven sentenced to death by an international tribunal, while 16 were given life imprisonment.

Political considerations allowed Emperor Hirohito (Shōwa) to escape trial.
