Tombeau de Couperin, Le

    0.03 sec.

Tombeau de Couperin, Le

Suite for piano by Maurice Ravel in the form of a classical suite such as François Couperin might have written, but resembling his music in spirit rather than in style, Ravel's idiom being as modern here as in any of his works. It was written 1914–17 and consists of six movements: Prélude, Fugue, Forlane, Menuet, Rigaudon and Toccata. Ravel orchestrated it in 1919, without the fugue and toccata; the first performance of that version was in Paris on 8 November 1920.
