Torelli, Giuseppe (1658–1709)

Italian composer and violinist. With Arcangelo Corelli he was one of the most important composers in the history of the early concerto.

He played in the orchestra of San Petronio at Bologna 1686–96, then went to Vienna, and was konzertmeister at the court of the Margrave of Brandenburg 1697–99. He returned to Bologna in 1701.
