Torre del Greco

Fishing port and resort in Campania region, southern Italy, on the Bay of Naples, 12 km/7 mi southeast of Naples; population (1991) 101,400. Cameos and worked coral and lava are produced, and there are boat-building yards. Standing at the western foot of Mount Vesuvius, Torre del Greco has frequently been damaged by the volcano's eruptions.
