Great Torrington

Market town on the River Torridge in Devon, southwest England, between Bideford and Okehampton; population (2001) 5,150. There is a milk-canning factory, and gloves and glass are made. The Blue Coat School was established here in 1671.

The Saxon name of Great Torrington was Toritone.
