Tostig

Anglo-Saxon ruler, the son of Earl Godwin and brother of Harold II. He was made Earl of Northumbria in 1055 by his brother-in-law, Edward the Confessor, but was outlawed and exiled because of his severity. He joined Harold Hardrada of Norway in the invasion in 1066 of northern England, but they were both defeated and killed the same year by Harold II at the Battle of Stamford Bridge.
