Opera by d'Albert (libretto originally French by M Henry, German translation by H H Ewers), produced in Dresden on 5 March 1916. In the story, the blind Myrtocle is granted her sight by Jesus. When she looks upon the ugliness of her husband Arcesius, however, she decides she would rather remain blind, which she attempts by staring at the sun.
