Auchterarder

Town and former royal burgh in Perth and Kinross unitary authority, Scotland, on the southern slopes of the valley of Strathallan, 23 km/14 mi southwest of Perth; population (2001) 3,950. The town's principal industries include the production of traditional tweed and tartan, precision engineering, and tourism, with Gleneagles hotel and golf course only 3 km/2 mi southwest of Auchterarder. The town's charter was first granted in about 1200.
