Towne, Henry Robinson (1844–1924)| US engineer and manufacturer. In 1868 he was a partner at the Yale Lock Manufacturing Company and became president in 1869, holding that position until 1915. He introduced modern manufacturing processes to the lock industry. Towne was born in Philadelphia. He began his career during the Civil War, supervising the installation of ship engines and machinery. |
