Tracy, Benjamin F(ranklin) (1830–1915)
| US public official. He became a brevet brigadier general in the Civil War and was a US attorney for New York (1866–73). As secretary of the navy (1889–93) he instituted administrative reforms and began building a powerful modern navy. Tracy was born near Owego, New York. |
