A student veterinarian participates in surgery. Training to be a vet takes at least five years. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons is the statutory body with which all qualified vets must be registered before they can practice in the UK.

Process of acquiring new work-related skills. Training may include formal instructional courses (full-time or part-time) provided by employers or educational institutions. It can also be provided on-the-job by learning under the supervision of more experienced workers. Induction is the term used to describe the training given to a worker when he or she first starts a new job.

The AA said it believed trainees made up an eighth of all instructors and yet driving schools could charge full rates for lessons with trainees.
