Trapp, Max (1887–1971)

German composer. He studied composition with Juon and piano with Dohnányi at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik, became piano professor there in 1920 and professor of advanced composition in 1924. He also taught at Dortmund. The first performance of his second Concerto for Orchestra (1935) was conducted by Furtwängler.

marionette play Der letzte König von Orplid (after Mörike); incidental music to Shakespeare's Timon of Athens.

Orchestral

seven symphonies, two concertos, two divertimenti, symphonic suite, Notturno for orchestra; piano concerto, violin concerto (1926), cello concerto (1937).

Chamber

two string quartets, piano quintet, three piano quartets; variations for two pianos; sonatina for piano.
