Trauerwalzer

    0.06 sec.

Trauerwalzer

The title given by the publisher to Schubert's waltz for piano, Op. 9 no. 2, in 1821, a piece later wrongly attributed to Beethoven. Schubert, who wrote it in 1816, disapproved of the title. The attribution to Beethoven occurred in 1826, when Schott of Mainz brought out a Sehnsuchtswalzer (also called Le Désir) under his name, although it was a compound of Schubert's piece and Himmel's Favoritwalzer.
