Treptow, Günther (1907–1981)

German tenor. He studied in Berlin, where he made his debut in 1936. He remained in Berlin until 1942, when he moved to Munich. His roles included Adolar, Parsifal, Walther, Otello, and Florestan. For his debut at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York in 1951, he sang Siegmund and for his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in 1953, Siegfried. He sang in Vienna 1947–55 and was appointed Kammersänger in 1971.
