Treu, Daniel Gottlob (1695–1749)

German violinist and composer. A pupil of Cousser and from 1716 of Vivaldi in Venice, where he was known by the literal translation of his name, Fedele. In 1725 he went to Breslau as conductor of an Italian opera company and in 1727 to Prague as music director. In 1740 he entered the service of Count Schaffgotsch at Hirschberg.

Works

operas Astarto (1725), Ulisse (1726), Don Chisciotte (1727) and others; cantatas; orchestral music.
