Tripolis

Town in Greece, capital of the department of Arcadia, in the central Peloponnese, southwest of Argos. Leather goods and tapestries are manufactured here.

Tripolis was a regional capital under Turkish administration and was captured briefly by Greek partisans during the War of Independence in 1821. In retaliation it was destroyed by Ali Pasha in 1825.
