Trittico

Cycle of three one-act operas by Puccini, produced at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, on 14 December 1918:

II tabarro/The Cloak (libretto by G Adami, based on D Gold's Houppelande). Michele kills wife Giorgetta's lover and hides the body under a cloak.

Suor Angelica/Sister Angelica (libretto by G Forzano). As convent dweller Angelica is told of death of her illegitimate son she takes poison and is granted a vision of the Virgin with her child.

Gianni Schicchi (libretto by ditto, based on the story of a rogue who is mentioned in Dante's Divina commedia). Gianni Schicchi assumes the identity of the rich, recently-deceased Bicose Donati and dictates a will favourable to himself.
