Tromboncino, Bartolomeo (c. 1470–after 1534)

Italian composer. He was famous as a composer of frottole – songs for several singers or for one singer and instruments – he wrote over 170. He enjoyed brief fame for having murdered his adulterous wife in 1499 and was in the service of another adulteress, Lucrezia Borgia, at Ferrara 1502–08.

He was at the ducal court of Mantua 1487–95, then at Venice, Vicenza, Casale, at Mantua again 1501–13, and then at Ferrara.
