Trustee Savings Bank

UK bank founded in Scotland in 1810 as a nonprofit savings bank with each branch managed by local trustees; it was later financed by the government, before privatization in 1986. In 1995 it merged with Lloyds Bank, to form Lloyds TSB, the UK's largest retail bank at that time.

A: Historical records in Carlisle show that this local bank became part of the Trustee Savings Bank and in 1995 this became Lloyds TSB.
THE UK once had a national network of Trustee Savings Banks.
