Trustee Savings Bank

UK bank founded in Scotland in 1810 as a nonprofit savings bank with each branch managed by local trustees; it was later financed by the government, before privatization in 1986. In 1995 it merged with Lloyds Bank, to form Lloyds TSB, the UK's largest retail bank at that time.

THE UK once had a national network of Trustee Savings Banks.
NAME TO TRUST IT is a far cry from the old local Trustee Savings Banks, but TSB Scotland will become Lloyds TSB Scotland in 1999 following the banks' merger.
