Tudor, David

Tudor, David (1926-1996)

US pianist and composer. He is best known for his close association with John Cage, much of whose music he performs or helps to realize. He played in the first performances of Music of Change, Piano concerto, and Atlas Eclipticalis. He gave the first US performance of Boulez's second piano sonata in New York in 1950, and has performed works by Kagel and Bussotti.

He studied piano and composition with Stefan Wolpe.

various electronic pieces, including Fluorescent Sound (1964), Bandoneon! Reunion, Rainforest I-V (1968-73), and Fontana Mix (in collaboration with Cage).
