Tudor, Margaret (1489–1541)

Queen of Scotland, of English origin. She was the daughter of Henry VII and wife of James IV of Scotland, whom she married at Edinburgh in 1503. In 1514 she married Douglas, Earl of Angus, and after divorcing him married Henry Stewart, Lord Methuen.

Her life in Scotland was characterized by a series of political intrigues with various Court factions. Her son by James IV became James V of Scotland. Her daughter, Margaret (as a result of her second marriage) was the mother of Lord Darnley and therefore grandmother of James VI of Scotland (later James I of England).
