Tudor rose

Heraldic emblem adopted by Henry VII and his successors. It comprises a rose with the central petals white and the outer petals red; in other words, it combines a badge of the house of York with one of the house of Lancaster. It symbolized that Henry, by marrying Elizabeth of York, had united the two houses and had (supposedly) brought the Wars of the Roses to an end.
